Understand Voice Usage And Resets

Voice usage is measured by time spent in voice sessions, in the browser or on the phone. Plus gets 2 hours a month; Pro is unlimited. Every session is capped at 60 minutes.

What counts toward voice usage#

Voice usage increases while a voice session is running, whether you started it from the mic button in Chat or by phone. Both draw from the same monthly pool.

In practice, this includes time while the assistant is listening, thinking, or speaking.

If you stop voice, the meter stops.

Chat messages you type are counted separately, against the daily assistant message limit. See Daily assistant limit reached.

When voice usage resets#

On Plus, your 2 hours reset on your billing cycle.

On the Usage page, under This billing period, the Voice assistant meter's footer shows the reset date: "{time} left · resets {date}".

Pro has no monthly cap, so the meter reads "Unlimited" and there is nothing to reset.

Why voice might stop during a long session#

Every session has a 60-minute ceiling, on both plans and on both browser and phone voice. A warning starts at 55 minutes, and the composer shows a countdown reading "M:SS left" once 10 minutes or less remain, then "Time's up" when the session ends.

Start a new session to keep going. On Plus, the new session keeps drawing from the same 2 hours for the month.
