Change A Contact's Nurture Status

Need to stop following up with someone, or restart follow-ups you paused? Change their nurture status from their contact detail sheet.

Steps#

  1. Go to the People page.
  2. Click the contact to open their detail sheet.
  3. Switch to the Nurture tab.
  4. Click the status dropdown (it shows the current status).
  5. Choose Nurturing, Paused, or Disabled.

The change takes effect immediately.

What each status means#

  • Nurturing: dreamif.ai writes and schedules follow-up emails for this contact. Use this for active leads and clients you want to stay in touch with.
  • Paused: follow-ups stop, but nothing is lost. You can switch back to Nurturing anytime to pick up where you left off. Use this when a contact asked for space, or when the timing is not right but you plan to re-engage.
  • Disabled: the contact is permanently pulled out of nurture. Use this when someone bought elsewhere, moved out of your market, or is no longer a prospect. You can re-enable it, but any scheduled touchpoints are lost.

You may also see the badge read Off. That's not something you pick from the dropdown; it's the default display before a contact has ever had an explicit status set. Pick any of the three real options to move it out of Off.

Reading the subtitle under the status#

The dropdown shows a small subtitle explaining what's actually happening:

  • "Below the minimum interaction threshold": the contact hasn't interacted enough to qualify yet.
  • "Waiting for the next interaction": nurture is snoozed until they email or you add a note.
  • "Nurture disabled for this contact": disabled at the contact level.
  • "Nurture is disabled in settings": nurture automation itself is off; fix that in Configure nurture settings rather than at the contact level.

Not sure whether to pause or disable?#

If in doubt, pause. You can always disable later, but disabling is harder to undo. See Pause vs disable nurture for a contact for a fuller breakdown.
