Use Voice Controls In Chat

Start voice from the Chat composer, read the status labels, mute or stop the session, and watch the countdown near the session limit.

Start voice#

Open Chat and click the microphone button in the composer. The first time, your browser asks for microphone permission.

Status labels#

The status label tells you which part of the session you are in:

Label What is happening
Requesting microphone The browser is asking for mic permission.
Connecting Permission is granted and the session is starting.
Listening dreamif.ai is hearing you.
Working It is running a tool or thinking through your request.
Speaking It is talking back.
Muted Your mic is off and nothing you say is heard.
Ending voice The session is closing down.

If the mic never connects, a dialog titled "Allow microphone access for this site" opens with steps for your browser. See Fix microphone access.

Mute or unmute#

Click the mute toggle in the voice bar. While muted the status reads Muted, and dreamif.ai keeps the session open without hearing you.

Stop the session#

Click the red stop button to end voice. The transcript stays in the thread.

Read the transcript#

What you say and what dreamif.ai says back appear as chat bubbles in the thread while you talk, so you can scroll back through a voice session the same way you would a typed one.

Watch the countdown#

A voice session runs up to about an hour. Once ten minutes or less remain, a countdown appears in the voice bar reading "M:SS left", and at the end it reads "Time's up".

That countdown is for the current session, not your monthly voice allowance. For the monthly side, see Voice limit reached.

Switch to a phone call#

When the composer is empty and phone voice access is on, a Call by phone button takes the place of Send. Phone minutes draw on the same voice quota and the same session cap. See Call dreamif.ai by phone.
