Check recent label matches
Each label has a Recent matches panel showing which real emails it's catching. Use it to check your rules are working before you rely on them.
Where to find it#
- Go to Settings > Integrations, then open the Labels tab.
- Open a label (Standard, Existing Gmail, or Custom) that's turned on.
- Scroll to Recent matches, below its instructions.
The panel only shows for labels that are turned on.
What you'll see#
- Up to 5 recent emails that matched the label, each with sender, subject, and a short snippet.
- Checking recent inbox matches: dreamif.ai is still loading match data.
- Gmail is catching up. Recent matches will appear here when the index is ready.: your inbox hasn't finished indexing yet.
- No matches yet. As new mail arrives, anything matching this rule will show up here.: the label is active but hasn't caught anything recently.
- Couldn't load recent matches right now. Try again in a moment.: a temporary load error. Reopen the label or refresh the page.
Use it to tune your rules#
If a custom label's Recent matches list looks wrong, either too broad (catching things it shouldn't) or empty when it should be catching mail, that's a signal to tighten the instructions or adjust Sender names or emails and Sender domains. Save your changes and check back after new mail arrives to see whether the fix worked.
