Customize Drafting Style And Behavior
Drafting style tells dreamif.ai how your emails should sound: casual or formal, short or detailed, direct or warm.
Steps#
Drafting style shapes how replies are written. Which emails get a reply at all is reply criteria.
-
Go to Settings > AI preferences > Replies.
-
Make sure Auto-draft replies is on. The Writing sub-tab only appears while it is.
-
Open Writing and find the Drafting style box.
-
Describe your preferred style in plain English. For example:
"Keep replies short and friendly. Use first names. Do not use exclamation marks. Match the formality of the sender. If they write casually, reply casually."
-
Click Save Settings.
The box holds 2000 characters. Past that, saving fails with "Drafting style is too long to save. Shorten it and try again."
What you can shape#
- Tone: professional, warm, casual, direct.
- Length: brief one-liners against detailed responses.
- Formality: first names against "Mr./Ms.", contractions against formal language.
- Habits: things you always or never do, such as "always sign off with 'Best'".
- Handling of outside sources, such as "summarize Drive docs instead of quoting long passages".
What drafting style does not override#
dreamif.ai follows your style instructions inside its safety boundaries. It will not send harmful content, reach past the Google permissions you granted, or skip the confirmation step before a send.
Style also does not decide how often drafts appear. That comes from Auto-draft replies and the confidence setting beside it. See Control when dreamif.ai drafts replies.
