Put Your Signature Above Quoted Text In Replies

By default, reply signatures go below the quoted conversation. Turn this on to keep your signature right below your reply instead.

Steps#

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations, then open the Email tab.
  2. Switch to the Replies context.
  3. Turn on Insert before quoted text.
  4. Click Save Settings.

What the result looks like#

With this on:

  1. Your reply
  2. Your signature
  3. Quoted conversation thread

With this off (default):

  1. Your reply
  2. Quoted conversation thread
  3. Your signature

When to use this#

Turn it on if your replies are often part of long threads and you want your signature visible near your reply. Leave it off if you prefer the standard Gmail reply layout.

Moving the signature doesn't change the 16 KB size cap on custom signatures. See Set up your signature if you need to trim one down.
